Optometrist with over a decade of clinical eye care experience. Undergraduate education was completed at Lake Forest College, then Dr. Karina graduated from a 4 year program for Doctor of Optometry degree at Illinois College of Optometry and then completed a year long training in Ocular Disease at a VA Hospital.

Willow Vision Health is primarily a mobile eye exam business. Home health for patients is available and eye exams on site for small businesses or nonprofit organizations for their staff are available to schedule.

About our Optometrist

Dr. Karina takes time to raise awareness about health equity and public health in her work to provide access to vision services for communities with minimal access to eye care. Her focus when working with patients is to create a connection between the eye health and systemic health to help patients achieve an overall wellness goal. Dr. Karina’s approach to healthcare is looking at the root cause for medical illness and working with patients on an individualized plan toward healing/compliance with care, talking with patients and not at them. While people share a lot more similarities than differences, we all still have very unique experiences that shape our identity and healthcare necessities. When customizing more individualized care for patients, it can be easier to achieve overall wellness. Preventative health is always her primary goal of care. Communication is one of Dr. Karina's strong skills as she is fluent in Russian and conversational in Spanish.

As a naturalized citizen and from her experience when immigrating to the United States at the age of 12, she knows how important proper information comprehension is to optimal healthcare, and how language barriers can affect that comprehension. With family values being at the core character of her Armenian heritage, she often becomes the family eye care provider for patients, addressing vision care for multiple generations ranging from pediatric to geriatric care.

Pediatric Eye Care

We provide eye care for children of all ages. Please when making an appointment, let us know if your child needs more time. Dr. Karina wants to help children with any level of comfort with doctor visits; whether a child needs non verbal accommodations or has any neuro divergent condition requiring modification from the conventional exam steps, every effort will be made to address those accommodations. As someone with adult ADHD herself, Dr. Karina understands that the mind works different for everyone and it should never deter ability to complete a comprehensive eye exam.

LASIK and other refractive surgery options consultations are available

Considering laser corrective surgery? Option for refractive surgery procedure or cataract surgery can be discussed. Dr. Karina worked alongside with ophthalmologists at a VA hospital and also at a laser corrective surgery center focusing on preliminary and post operative eye health examinations.

Home Health, Tele - Medicine

Portable equipment is available to complete a comprehensive eye exam. Option is available for on site comprehensive eye exams for small businesses employees.

W.O.W Literary Festival Vision Screening

Since 2022, Dr. Karina along with other volunteers have organized vision screenings at the annual Literary Festival held at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center (10201 South Cottage Grove Avenue Chicago, IL 60628). Community Health Center Lecture

Partnering up with the Blue Door Neighborhood Center, Dr. Karina shared an informative presentation about common ocular disease conditions and the importance of comprehensive eye examination.

Volunteer with The Lead It Foundation

Member of Board of Directors of Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR)

The goal of SOAR is to provide humanitarian relief to orphaned Armenian children and adults with disabilities throughout the world. Chicago chapter and chapters across the world raise funds that go directly to individuals to provide resources fundamental to their physical, emotional and intellectual development which then provides necessary tools for resilience and more independence. SOAR volunteers also provide dental care at their clinic in Armenia and has doctors that operate a mobile eye care unit to deliver eye care to children in orphanages. Integrative comprehensive eye exams are available. Our office welcomes patients of all age groups, with a strong emphasis on pediatric eye care as how vision affects learning and behavioral health. There is so much more to good vision health than being able to read the 20/20 line on the eye chart.

Fees, Insurance

Please call the office to discuss in detail exact fees and insurance information. Currently we are waiting to be signed up to some plans, but the service model is predominantly independent pay. Itemized receipt is provided upon request with proper billing codes for patient to submit to insurance for out of network benefits. Self-pay rates: GLASSES PRESCRIPTION EXAM starts at 100 dollars (ADDITIONAL cost for CONTACT LENS FITTING based on the complexity of the contact lens fit and time spent for the contact lens fit). We work with local labs, so the prices for frame and lens material are very competitive based on the quality and warranty provided.

In order to provide a personalized exam, the care is fee for service set up as when people go for their hairstyle change, manicure/pedicure or any other beatification investment. We schedule in a way where you have time with the doctor as needed to address the issue, even if it takes 30-50 minutes for a comprehensive eye exam appointment with the doctor, which is different from other offices as the more commonly seen set up with exams scheduled every 15-20 minutes (as significant part of that exam is spent with preliminary testing staff and not the doctor).
